Bohol Day Tour: Sandugo Monument

1st stop of our Panglao Day Tour Package is the Sandugo Monument!

This historical monument describes the blood compact performed March 16, 1565 in the island of Bohol between the Spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi (on the Left) and Datu Sikatuna (on the right) the chieftain of Bohol to seal their friendship as part of the tribal tradition. They made a cut on their left arm with a dagger and poured their blood into a cup filled with wine, which they both drank. This is considered as the first treat between the Spaniards and Filipinos. "Sandugo" is Visayan which means "one blood".

Bohol is now celebrating their biggest festivity, the annual Sandugo Festival.
